Amid controversy over alleged use of animal fat in Tirupati laddus, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has said that the sanctity of the 'prasadam' has now been restored. The temple board has also temporarily suspended the use of cow-based products in the preparation of Srivari Prasadams.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has taken steps to restore the sanctity of its laddu prasadam after lab tests revealed adulteration with beef fat and fish oil. Following complaints about changes in taste,

“There will be no more compromise on the quality of the laddus and the quality of ghee used (to make it),” TTD Executive Officer J Syamala Rao said. However, the TTD announced on Saturday that it will temporarily suspend the use of cow ghee and milk-based products in the preparation of other offerings, or “prasadams,” for the deity.

In a social media post on Friday night, the TTD, which manages the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple, on the hills of Tirumala said the divinity and purity of Srivari Laddu is unblemished now.
