The United States Supreme Court ordered the Alabama to redraw its congressional map after finding the current layout gerrymandered in a 5-4 ruling. Now, Tom Holmes and incumbent Rep. Barry Moore will face off to represent the state's 1st Congressional District.

TUSKEGEE, Ala. -- On opposite sides of the courthouse square in Tuskegee, Alabama — a place steeped in African American history, including the city’s namesake university and World War II airmen — two opposing congressional candidates recently greeted families gathered at a county festival.

Alabama's 2nd Congressional District was redrawn last year to give the state an opportunity to have a second minority district. The district now consists of 48% minority voters. The race drew 19 candidates during its Democratic and Republican primaries,
