India's direct tax collection rises 16% y/y in April-Sept, government says
The Indian government's net direct tax collection rose 16% year-on-year to 9.96 trillion rupees ($119.07 billion) during April 1 to Sep 17, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

Net direct tax collection jumps over 16% till September 17
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said net direct tax collection of Rs 9.96 lakh crore (as of September 17) includes Corporation Tax (CIT) at Rs 4.53 lakh crore (net of refund), Personal Income Tax (PIT) at Rs 4.15 lakh crore and Securities Transaction Tax (STT) at Rs 26,154 crore (net of refund).

The net personal income tax (PIT) collection grew 19 per cent to Rs 5.15 lakh crore between April 1 and September 17. Corporate tax collection went up 10.55 per cent to over Rs 4.52 lakh crore. Revenues from Securities Transaction Tax (STT) stood at Rs 26,154 crore.
