Doctors’ associations across Tamil Nadu initiated a protest on Thursday following an attack on an oncologist at the Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital. The doctor was allegedly stabbed seven times with a sharp knife by the son of a cancer patient on Wednesday.

An oncologist at Chennai's Kalaignar Centenary Super-Specialty Hospital, Dr Balaji Jaganathan, was seriously injured in a knife attack by a patient's relative dissatisfied with the treatment his mother received.

The attacker, who stabbed a Chennai doctor multiple times, wiped the knife, threw it away and calmly walked to the exit, a video from after the incident showed.
