Epic Games announced in a post on X that Fortnite OG is “combing BACK and is here to stay” starting December 6. That means players can experience the original map and loot starting with Chapter 1, Season 1 from all the way back in 2017, when Fortnite was less of the pop culture metaverse juggernaut it is today.

After leaks suggested a new mode was coming, new leaks have confirmed that Fortnite OG is coming back in a permanent sense.

Players have clamoured for a return of Fortnite OG, the game’s mini season that brought back Chapter 1 content, since its addition to the game in late 2023. This year, Epic Games showed they were listening by bringing back a remixed version of Chapter 2 to conclude the entirety of Chapter 5 – but that’s not all.

Fortnite players, get ready to party like it's 2017. On Tuesday, Epic Games announced that Fortnite OG is returning on Dec. 6, and this time, it's staying for good. Fortnite OG allows players to experience the game as it was when it was first released back in September 2017.

Popular 'Fortnite' mode Fortnite OG is returning for good. Epic Games' battle royale game's throwback mode features the original map, loot, and gameplay from 2017's Chapter 1 and was launched for a limited time only in November 2023 before the event ended the following month.

The Fortnite OG mode is making a comeback in December, allowing players to check out the original season of the game as well as the Fortnite Season 1 map and all its POIs.
